I’m sharing with you today our “cheater” method for having pizza at home: using pre-made pizza dough! I feel like a cheater because I know that I can make it from scratch (I plan on using this real recipe next time) but it still is much cheaper to buy store-bought dough and toppings than running to the local pizzeria or ordering Pizza Hut! The dough was only about $1.39 each from Shoprite. Since I buy pasta sauce and cheese when it is on sale, I am sure this comes in as a pretty inexpensive meal.
Here is a look at our slices… I made one with plain crust with Ragu sauce, shredded mozzarella, and pepperoni. I made the second with whole wheat crust, topped with Ragu light alfredo sauce, shredded mozzarella, and broccoli on half! Delicious!
One more tip: I brush the outer crust with olive oil mixed with italian spices and it comes out really fabulous! I can’t wait to bring you a real homemade pizza next time, with dough I’ve made too!
